If you live near any body of water you are bound to find a turtle in your yard or even worse swimming around in your pool! There is multiple native species of Turtles to Florida, including: Florida Softshell, Snapping Turtle, Yellowbelly and Red Ear Sliders.
Tortoises that are native to Florida include Box Turtles (semi aquatic) & Gopher Tortoises. However, due to the pet trade many more specifies of Turtles & Tortoises can find themselves in your backyard.
Please note Tortoises are NOT swimmers please DO NOT throw them into a body of water, they will drown.
