Opossums are classified as omnivores and are known to be scavengers.  Opossums often find their way onto homes and business where they can raid garbage cans, dumpsters and anywhere there is leftover food. They also are known for searching out carrion (roadkill), grass, nuts and even pet chickens.  Additionally, they don't call it 'playing opossum' for no reason; these clever fellows are known for playing dead when feeling threatened, be careful!
